This is the NRA's Personal Protection In The Home Course, which meets the State's requirement to apply for a Concealed Pistol License.
Conducted by friendly and experienced NRA certified instructors / Range Safety Officers and an Attorney.

This information benefits anyone that has a handgun in their home whether they intend to carry it or not. Our students are men and women of all ages and from all walks of life.
Pre-registration required - Class size is limited - $150.00:
You must have a basic understanding of safe gun handling and use. We are happy to accommodate inexperienced shooters or those with new guns. We do have demo firearms for student use. Please make such arrangements well in advance of the class.
Requirements: Materials for taking notes, firearm cased and unloaded, 150 rounds of ammunition,(factory loads preferred) eye & ear protection, spare magazines or speed loaders are helpful.
Two full days - Oct 2&3 2010
The emphasis of this course is placed on defensive rifle handling and shooting skills. It will also integrate the defensive pistol. The course's goal is to present a wide spectrum of background information combined with practical methods to make you effective using a defensive rifle and pistol. You will learn current “real world” techniques in use by professionals today. If you already own a defensive rifle and pistol or you are thinking about it, this is your opportunity to get the training to make it worth while. This is a serious course but one you will enjoy.
Some of the subjects covered:
mindset, proper use of a sling, individual and team response, movement, transitions, rapid target acquisition, improvised positions, reloading, stoppage reduction, firing techniques, proper use of cover, field maintenance and more. You will learn how to be smooth, efficient, and safe. A special range segment will address the “ballistic integrity” of common items used for cover such as; car doors, exterior doors, interior walls etc. You will also learn the “craft” of firearm and gear selection. Learn what works for you and what doesn't before you spend money. There will be a variety of firearm configurations for you to evaluate.
Military style, semi automatics with iron sights and or low-power, red dot type
scopes are preferred as most of the course is spent firing at multiple targets. The
most common example is an AR15 but other options may include: AK's, FN's, HK's,
Mini 14's, the Sig 556 and others. Most of this course takes place at short to
medium “urban defensive” ranges. You will need up to 500 rounds of rifle
ammunition, a sling and spare magazines.
Defensive pistols can be anything that you could carry legitimately, from a 5 - shot
“snubby to a full size 1911. Your CCW/CPL gun is a perfect choice. You will need
250 rounds of pistol ammunition, belt holster, spare ammunition carriers & eye/ear
protection. You will get a complete materials list when you register.
Prior Completion of a CCW/ CPL course is not required but is strongly recommended

This is a "practical" course intended for responsible individuals that have CCW/CPL. It is designed to provide a solid foundation / skill set that will increase the shooter's confidence and effectiveness using a defensive handgun. You will learn the methods currently in use by professionals world wide.
Some of the subjects covered:
A review of fundamentals such as grip, stance and position as as well as: basic concealment/holster types, proper draw & re-holstering, mind set, safe handling & use, trigger manipulation, shot placement, multiple targets, movement, proper use of cover, various reload methods, malfunctions, performing under stress, handgun & gear selection, ammunition testing on various types of cover.
You will learn to become safe, smooth, efficient and effective.

Choice of Defensive Pistol - Anything that you could carry legitimately, from a 5 - shot "snubby" to a full size 1911. Your CCW/CPL gun is a perfect choice. You will need 800 rounds of pistol ammunition, belt holder, spare ammunition carriers, three spare magazines or speed loaders & wrap around eye and ear protection.
